Easy logic puzzles, printable with answers, let young children practise reading clues and reasoning step by step. Logic Puzzles for Kids is a free tool that makes them for you: choose a size and level, solve on screen, then print the puzzle with an answer page. It runs in your web browser, needs no sign-up, and has nothing to install. Each puzzle is made on your device, and nothing is uploaded.
Every puzzle is built from a puzzle number, so you can share the exact puzzle or reprint it and get the same one. Kid mode opens on a 3x3 Easy puzzle with themes such as lunch boxes, pets, toys and a zoo trip. Larger sizes are available for older pupils, which makes this useful for logic problems for elementary students as well as beginner logic problems at home or in class.
How to use the Logic Puzzles for Kids tool
- Open the page. It starts on a 3x3 Easy puzzle with a kid-friendly theme.
- Read the clues one at a time. Easy clues are direct, such as “Fay drinks lemonade.”
- Pick an answer from the drop-down for each row in the answer table. Use the clues to work out who goes with what.
- Tap a clue to cross it out once you have used it. This keeps track of what you have already read.
- Turn on Show grid if you want the classic grid instead of the answer table.
- Use Hint if you are stuck. It names the clue that gives the next fact.
- Use Check to count wrong marks. It shows how many are wrong without showing where. Show mistakes is already on.
- To change the puzzle, pick 3x4 or 4x4, or switch to Medium. Use New puzzle for a different puzzle with the same settings.
Your marks are saved in your browser for each puzzle, so a reload will not lose them. Use Copy link to share the exact puzzle. To print, open the Print tab, choose Large print if needed, add a Name and date line, turn Answer pages on or off, and select Letter or A4. Then choose Print / Save as PDF. Two puzzles fit on each page for 3x3 and 3x4, and you can print from 1 to 10 pages.
How do I explain a logic puzzle to a child?
Tell the child that each row is one person, each item in a column belongs to exactly one person, and every answer must fit all the clues at the same time. Then read one clue aloud and ask what it tells you before moving to the next.
Show the child that a clue is always true. If a clue says “Gus drinks milk,” then Gus and milk belong together. Cross the clue out once it has been used so nothing gets lost. Hints can help when a child cannot see the next step, because they show which clue to read next.
How do you solve an easy logic puzzle?
Start with the clues that match a person to an item directly, then use elimination to fill the rest. Each clue removes some possibilities, and what is left is the answer. Easy puzzles use direct clues like “Fay drinks lemonade,” “does not,” and “either … or,” so a child can solve them by reading each clue and crossing out.
Here is a 3x3 puzzle from the Lunch Boxes theme. The children are Cara, Fay and Gus. The fruit is grapes, bananas and oranges. The drinks are milk, lemonade and cocoa.
- The child who drinks cocoa also has grapes.
- Fay drinks lemonade.
- Gus drinks milk.
- The child who has oranges does not drink lemonade.
Clues 2 and 3 leave cocoa for Cara. Clue 1 then says Cara has grapes. Clue 4 says the oranges are not with lemonade, and lemonade is Fay’s, so Gus has oranges and Fay has bananas.
Answer: Cara - grapes - cocoa; Fay - bananas - lemonade; Gus - oranges - milk.
A good habit for children is to check the finished answer against every clue, one by one. If a clue does not fit, the mistake is usually in the last few answers chosen, so they can change those and try again.
